California Love: Day 1 & 2

July 18, 2008

Last Wednesday, we travelled to Los Angeles to visit Dave, Amanda, Mason and Willow. Dave and Mason came to pick us up at the airport and it was so great to see them. We loved hearing Mason call us “Uncie D” and “Aunt Krysa.” You just can’t beat the voice of a two and a half year old. We headed straight for their home where we were able to meet little Willow for the first time.

One of my favorite things about California is the abundance of great and authentic Mexican food. The corn tortilla is a gluten-free girl’s friend. We grabbed dinner that night a Sharky’s Mexican Grill. I was determined the rest of the week to eat as much Mexican food as possible.

On the second day of our visit, D and Dave headed out for a round of golf. I was so glad they were able to get to do this since it is something they both love but rarely get to do together. I wasn’t there but I can only assume that it was great brother-bonding time.

In the complex that Dave and Amanda live in, there is a great little courtyard area with patio furniture and lots of kids toys. Mason and I started off our morning there. Who knew hitting a tree with a plastic bat could be so much fun?

Then we all went to a downtown area of Pasadena where Amanda and I had some great iced lattes. Then we took a walk to the library. It was a great way to start off our vacation.

I’ll let D post on Day 3 & Day 4. More to come…

I felt like we bonded just great. Especially when you cheated on your score 🙂

what’s sad is that you gave me a few breaks during the round and then i miscalculated my score at the end – and i still lost by 7 strokes
